Sylvie - 100 years of steam
Reinterpreting a star object - We were delighted to be invited back to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life to redisplay a glorious 8 tonne lump of Lincolnshire’s history. Sylvie is 100 years old and represents a time when the city’s firms led the world’s market in agricultural machinery.
We produced 5 short films and recreated her working environment in the gallery.

These versatile engines were used for all types of purpose. Many hands have driven Sylvie and each has a story to tell.

This city has a proud heritage and thriving industry producing agricultural machinery.

Sylvie’s journey from a rusty hulk in a French barn to the pride of the Lincoln collection.

Sylvie is high maintenance lady and many hands have lovingly kept her in top condition over the years.
Sylvie was just one of thousands of engines made in Lincoln for export. It was local engineering skills that drove a global revolution in farming.
